The CADE Implant Year

The CADE Implant Year is a structured, twelve-month supervised programme that takes you from planning your first implant to restoring multi-unit cases with confidence. Learned properly, not in a weekend.

It leads to the Diploma in Implant Dentistry (EduQual, SCQF Level 11) — a regulated postgraduate qualification awarded by EduQual, a body approved by SQA Accreditation. A Certificate at Level 7 is available as an exit award. On completion you will have fulfilled the eligibility requirements for Associate Fellowship of the College of General Dentistry (AssocFCGDent), and may be able to sit the M Imp Dent RCSEd examinations.

Choose your site — Hale or Ely

You attend ONE site for the whole programme. The Implant Year runs as two separate cohorts — one at Hale (North) and one at Ely (South) — and you choose the site that suits you when you apply. Every taught session is delivered once at each site, with the same curriculum, the same faculty and the same standard, so you attend your chosen site only. You do not travel between the two.

The one exception is the CBCT Masterclass, which is held in Manchester and attended by both cohorts together (4–5 December 2026).

How the year works

Sessions run in two formats:

• Didactic and practical classroom sessions — lectures, seminars, case-based tutorials and hands-on work on models. These cover the foundations and basic science; treatment planning and case assessment; surgical training including guided bone regeneration; and the full restorative spectrum — single tooth, overdentures, full arch and immediate loading.
• Live patient mentored clinical sessions — supervised surgery and restoration on your own patients, with faculty chairside throughout.

The running order stays deliberately flexible so teaching responds to the cohort and the cases coming through, but every session maps to the EduQual Level 11 modules. You are encouraged to bring your own cases for group planning from day one.

The CBCT Masterclass, Levels I & II

A complimentary two-day masterclass held in Manchester on 4–5 December 2026. This is the one part of the programme where both the Hale and Ely cohorts come together. It is led by Dr Lee Feinberg, Consultant Dental and Maxillofacial Radiologist, in partnership with Dentsply Sirona, and covers radiation physics and protection, image acquisition and processing, radiological anatomy and pathology, extensive hands-on reporting, and applying CBCT to prosthetically driven planning and guided surgery.

Your own cases

You will complete a minimum of six supervised implant placements on your own patients. Each case is planned and approved by the faculty before treatment, with a supervisor present chairside. Patients treated on the programme are charged reduced implant fees, paid directly by the patient, so you are not subsidising their care from your own practice income.

Your logged portfolio, assessed against the EduQual criteria, becomes both your assessment evidence and the foundation of your everyday implant practice. Progression depends on demonstrated competence and clinical judgement, not attendance or case count alone.

Fees

£895 + VAT per taught session — £11,635 + VAT for the full programme. This covers all taught sessions, DTx Studio software, laboratory costs, the complimentary two-day CBCT Masterclass, assessment and EduQual registration.

Reserve your place with a deposit of £1,750 + VAT, followed by ten equal monthly instalments at 0% interest.

Who it is for

Dentists who want to add implant dentistry to their practice in a safe, structured way, and who value depth over a quick certificate. You do not need previous implant experience, but you should be comfortable with routine restorative and minor surgical dentistry, GDC registered and with appropriate indemnity.

The next cohort starts October 2026. Places are limited and offered by application — please state whether you wish to attend Hale or Ely.

Dates for the 2026–27 cohort

Every session is delivered once at each site. You attend your chosen site only, either Hale or Ely. The CBCT Masterclass is the one exception, held in Manchester with both cohorts together.

There are no taught sessions in August. Dates are provisional and subject to change; confirmed dates are issued to enrolled delegates.
